Job Description

Overview

An education technology company is expanding into the offline learning-center market for K12 Mathematics, targeting the middle–upper market segment. The organization is preparing to build and scale a nationwide network of math learning centers as part of its long-term growth strategy.

The Managing Director – Offline Expansion will lead the full development, rollout, and operational performance of this new offline business line. The role requires strong experience in scaling K12 learning center networks across multiple cities, with deep operational understanding of branch/franchise expansion, teacher management, and standardized service delivery.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the national offline expansion strategy for a K12 Mathematics learning-center network.
  • Identify priority cities, create an expansion roadmap, and lead the rollout of new centers.
  • Build operational standards, SOPs, and quality frameworks for all offline centers.
  • Oversee end-to-end center development: feasibility studies, budgeting, site acquisition, setup, and staffing.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage the offline operations team (area managers, center leaders, trainers).
  • Ensure consistent teaching quality, strong student learning outcomes, and positive parent experience.
  • Manage the P&L of the offline business, ensuring healthy unit economics and sustainable payback periods.
  • Work closely with senior leadership for strategic alignment and performance reviews.
  • If franchising is approved, build the franchise ecosystem and manage partner performance.
  • Drive brand activation, parent engagement, and community outreach programs at the center level.

Profile Requirements

  • 10–15+ years of experience in the K12 education business, especially learning centers for younger grades.
  • Proven track record in scaling national or multi-city education networks (company-owned or franchise).
  • Strong operational leadership: branch management, network expansion, and quality control.
  • Background in reputable learning center environments (e.g., structured curriculum, standardized learning systems).
  • Solid understanding of unit economics, pricing models, payback periods, and P&L management.
  • Strong leadership presence — structured, steady, and able to lead large distributed teams.
  • Ability to build scalable systems, SOPs, training pipelines, and quality assurance mechanisms.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business or Education background preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a founder-led organization with cross-functional alignment across teams.

Success Indicators

Expansion Execution

  • Number of new centers successfully opened per quarter/year (aligned with approved roadmap).
  • On-time and on-budget launch across priority cities.

Business Performance

  • Healthy center unit economics (payback period, operating margin, breakeven timeline).
  • Strong enrollment growth and high student retention rates.

Operational Quality

  • Standardized learning quality across all centers with strong parent satisfaction.
  • Reduced performance variance across locations in teaching quality and operational KPIs.

Organization & Leadership

  • High-performing offline operations team with clear roles, metrics, and accountability.
  • Strong training pipeline and teacher-quality control system fully implemented.
