Geekhunter is hiring on behalf of our client, a Global media & information Services Company.

We’re looking for a technically skilled and people-focused Engineering Manager to join our client’s team in Indonesia. As they expand their B2B offerings—covering Enterprise, Partnerships, and exciting Generative AI initiatives—this role will play a key part in their next phase of growth. You’ll lead a team of 6-8 engineers working on backend systems, partner integrations, and Generative AI features. This is a chance to shape their B2B and AI technology stack, develop talent, and work closely with teams across engineering, product, design, QA, and delivery. We’re looking for someone with strong backend engineering skills, experience with frontend frameworks like React, and a passion for (or hands-on experience with) Generative AI technologies.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and support a team of engineers through regular 1:1s, coaching, performance feedback, and career development. Build an inclusive and growth-focused team culture.
  • Work closely with the Technical Lead, Product Manager, Design Lead, and QA Lead to scope, prioritize, and deliver both improvements and new platform features.
  • Contribute to engineering strategy and best practices. Shape processes, team rituals, and tools that help your team deliver high-quality code effectively.
  • Guide architectural decisions for key features like partner integrations, APIs, authentication, analytics, and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with GenAI teams to design and launch new experiences powered by large language models and other AI systems.
  • Stay hands-on (up to 30% of your time) by contributing to architectural reviews, technical design, and proof-of-concept development.
  • Take ownership of systems under your team’s responsibility—ensure they’re well-documented, reliable, and perform as needed.
  • Monitor service costs, build usage reports and dashboards, and help manage financial accountability.
  • Identify the skills your team needs, define ideal skill sets, and work with the Talent team to hire and onboard top engineers.
  • Understand team productivity and the factors that impact it—and step in to make improvements where needed.

 

Job Requirements

  • Several years of experience leading high-performing engineering teams that deliver customer-facing products (B2B or B2C).
  • Strong technical background as a software engineer (5+ years) with solid skills in backend languages like Go, TypeScript, Python, Java, or similar.
  • Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js) and a collaborative approach to working across the stack.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS and modern DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code.
  • Strong understanding of API design, authentication (OAuth2, SSO), and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience using observability tools (metrics, logs, alerts) and managing cloud costs (FinOps).
  • Proven experience with 24/7 production systems in globally distributed environments.
  • Experience building or supporting B2B or B2C platforms with customer- and partner-facing features.
  • Interest in or hands-on experience with Generative AI technologies and LLM-based applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build clarity, alignment, and trust across distributed teams.
  • A collaborative, humble mindset—enjoys solving problems together rather than going it alone.
